TEXAS was saved from San Antonio Animal Care Services on 6th March 2015. Although he did get up and about in his kennel there, he refused to walk when I went to pick him up, so he had to be carried out of the kennel, through the shelter and out to the car. It appeared he was just being extremely stubborn as when I got him back home to the rescue he was up and walking about no problem. He spent the first few days in the treatment area that I use as a transition area to let the dogs get used to the environment before coming into the house amongst all the dogs. The next day he came to greet me wagging his tail and clearly happy to see me and ... (Read More)he has been a happy boy ever since. TEXAS is good with the other dogs although he is not wanting to go running around with them he is social but is happy to chill out. TEXAS still has energy and although he has been aged around 5 years old, he will still need a family that can take him on walks and give him the important and necessary mental and physical exercise that German Shepherd Dogs need to live a truly happy, fulfilling life. TEXAS is a gentle boy, who like all dogs will benefit from basic and advanced obedience training with his new family. This not only creates a stronger bond, but also sets boundaries and expectations. It also allows both humans and dogs to learn each others body language and personalities. TEXAS does have a long coat and so will require a high level of grooming and upkeep, daily brushing is an absolute minimum. TEXAS is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. He has been given a date of birth or around 2nd March 2010 and at the time of rescue he weighed 73.20 pounds. TEXAS is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $350. If you have the time and commitment and are interested in adopting this handsome boy please go to our website and complete and submit the Adoption Application. This form and our adoption process can be found under the APPLICATION tab. For more photo's, please go to the GSD tab and click on his picture. www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-12-29-00555Ruthie (female)

White Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Tossed over a fence and left without food or water, Ruthie and her friends Noah and Peanut were all just trying to get by. Stressed and scared they weren't exactly happy about being taken in to a new place. Along the way they'd lost much of their hair and we knew they would take a little time to get comfortable and healthy again. That time has passed and now these three are ready and waiting to find their new homes! Although she might look a little rough around the edges, this sweet little girl doesn't let that stop her from making friends with everyone she meets. A little shy on the first approach, Ruthie is more likely to hang out in the ... (Read More)background and wait until everyone gets settled before she crawls into your lap, but once she's there she'll stay as long as you let her. She does well with other dogs and doesn't seem to mind cats so far. She is house broken and does wonderful in the crate as well. Ruthie is sweet pup who can't wait to go home. If she sounds like your style, fill out an application for Ruthie today! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a White Shepherd in Texas
White Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. A White Shepherd is a German Shepherd bred for its white coat. White Shepherds are more timid and sensitive than German Shepherds and should be trained gently. White Shepherds are very protective, but not hostile; they make great guard dogs and wonderful companions. White Shepherds should be well socialized early in life. White Shepherds that are properly trained and socialized are good with children and other pets. This breed can adapt to apartment life with sufficient exercise.
