|Rescue Me ID: 17-05-07-00155Apache (male)|
Hi there! My name is Apache and I am a 5 year old White German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix. I am a pretty big boy weighing in at 65-70lbs. I was rescued back in December of 2016 in pretty rough condition. I had a nasty case of heartworms and my eyes were badly infected. I had to have surgery on my eyes because the infections were caused by the eyelids rolling inward and scratching my eyes. But the lovely people at Paws for Life got my eyes all fixed up and just last month (April) I underwent heartworm treatment so that I could be at my healthiest for my forever family. Because of how bad my eyes looked, they originally thought I was closer to 9 years old but after inspecting my teeth the vet decided 5 was more accurate and my eyes just aged me. So to tell you a little bit about me, I am definitely still a playful guy and I love the resident doggies (submissive males and even a dominant female). It takes me a little bit to warm up to them but once I do we are great! I will wrestle with them and even run some slow zoomies! I live with some kitties and 'tolerate' is about as accurate of a description of them as I can give you. When I am in the crate I will lunge and bark at them but once I am loose I usually ignore them or get up close for some sniffs until I get smacked. The kitties in my foster home have no problem at all telling me I am in their space and when they do I back right off. After all, I am a pretty timid guy. It is pretty evident that somewhere in my past someone wasn't kind to me as I am very head shy with new people. I don't like new faces messing with my head, but I promise you that after you spend some time with me and earn my trust I will be the most loyal companion you could have. Mama can do just about anything to me now and I just stare at her with big, brown, adoring eyes. I am crate trained and while it is not my favorite place in the world, I am willing to stay in one when no one is home to keep me out of trouble. Even though I have been neutered a while, I still have that tendency to lift a leg and mark what I think is mine. Last time I even went to, Mama made a loud noise and I immediately stopped and walked my fluffy butt outside. I am not a huge fan of being brushed but because of the way I shed I either need a home that can keep me brushed down on their own or regular grooming so that my coat stays nice and healthy. I will tolerate it in little spurts though so it isn't like I am too high strung to get cleaned up. I am looking for a patient home who will shower me in love and teach me how to trust people again. If you think that could be you, please fill out the adoption application at pawsforlifenc.org. My adoption fee is $225. I have already been neutered, microchipped, am up to date on vaccinations, have been treated for heartworms, and am on heartworm and flea/tick preventions. If you have any additional questions about me please feel free to email my foster mom at firstname.lastname@example.org (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 17-02-25-00172Heidi (female)|
Miss Heidi was saved from a rural NC shelter. She is a beautiful and sweet girl who is very gentle, playful, quiet and loyal to the one she loves. She tends to be shy and aloof with people she does not know so she needs a family that will let her warm up to them at her own pace. She is very smart and loves to shake paws and give hugs. She also has the most beautiful smile! Heidi is believed to be a mix between a Collie and a White German Shepherd. Her birth date is around the beginning of December 2010. She is spayed, utd on shots, microchipped and on heartworm preventatives. She is house and crate trained though she prefers to sleep on a bed or couch. As for other dogs, she seems to enjoy playing with them, but can be snippy at times especially with females so she either needs to be an only dog or possibly homed with a submissive male. For more information on Heidi or an application to adopt her email us at email@example.com. The adoption process also includes a vet reference, possible home visit and signing a contract. Fee is $150. We put a lot of time and love into our fosters and our #1 concern is that they go to good forever homes that are perfect for each dog. (Less)

White Shepherd Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. A White Shepherd is a German Shepherd bred for its white coat. White Shepherds are more timid and sensitive than German Shepherds and should be trained gently. White Shepherds are very protective, but not hostile; they make great guard dogs and wonderful companions. White Shepherds should be well socialized early in life. White Shepherds that are properly trained and socialized are good with children and other pets. This breed can adapt to apartment life with sufficient exercise.
